There's some really nasty malware that hijacks browsers, (IE8, Firefox, and Opera-all current versions btw) , resets default search engine and disables editing so you cannot change default. This same malware disabled system restore, wiped out restore points, prevents access to windows update, disables editing of services, disables regedit, changes Vista permissions and makes itself the admin in Vista so the real administrator is no longer the admin and cannot change permissions or take ownership or access the admin account!
So far I've not been able to find anything at all that can detect and remove this malware or undo the changes it made. I've tried a long list of legitimate antivirus, antispy, antimalware apps (current versions with updated databases) and run several of the reputable online scans and ALL FAIL TO DETECT THIS MALWARE!!!
